The Netherlands

Mondag 3/8

Due to the Covid-19 virus we unfortunately had to stop our world tour and were forced to return to The Netherlands from India. After some months we decided to tour in Europe so we left this morning from the old city of Zwolle and hope to cycle to the South of France in about two or three months.

It surprises me time and again how varied and picturesque the landscape in The Netherlands is and really the best way to see it is on a bicycle. We followed the special low traffic junctions “Knooppunten” or “LF” routes and cycled through forests, fields and historic cities, along rivers, lakes and dykes. From Zwolle to Amsterdam and via The Hague to Rotterdam. Then further south into Belgium.

I have picked a few routes from the EuroVelo site, a European cycle route network with developed cycle paths and mostly low-traffic roads. We will follow the Euro Velo 4 path along the coast to La Rochelle and from there further South via Bordeaux direction Toulouse.
