Coming down the mountain from a day tour in the Phrygian Valley we met a cycling group from Eskisehir who like most Turks were super friendly and interested and they invited us to come to their Club House. It was good to have an address.
On our way we slept at a camping near Seyithazi where we once again were surprised with a free diner by the couple who were the managers. Next day on the road we stopped at a restaurant where we were seated and without any questions the table was filled with all sorts of food by several waiters. It was a family restaurant of which a young, well spoken member said we did not have to pay!? We refused this of course and payed. Often we feel embarrassed by so much hospitality.
Arriving in Eskisehir we cycled to the Bisiklet Club House which was about 10km out of town in the country side. Quite a nice route were it not that we passed many aggressive dogs, in the dark… The Club Secretary was waiting and happily showed us around, where to sleep, shower and where the kitchen was. The house itself was big with a large garden. The next few days we discovered Eskisehir and were pleasantly surprised. It is a modern university city with a nice atmosphere, lots of young people, café’s and restaurants. We stayed 4 days but could have stayed longer..!
