Bogmalo – Agonda
Due to the rising temperature and increase in humidity we decided to start cycling in the early morning at sunrise. Even at this early hour there was so much happening on the streets when we left Bogmalo that cycling was tricky and we needed to stay alert. It was not just the traffic but also the general activity on the side of the road. Colorful people and houses, women washing in rivers, men sleeping, children in school uniforms, cows, chickens, dogs, trucks, buses and cars, mopeds, bicycles, garbage everywhere and then there was the accompanying smells and noise. It now felt like being part of our film; “Incredible India”.
Slowly, cycling out of town, we came to the more quiet and hilly coast road with open fields and lots of coconut trees and it was here that we saw the obvious Portugese influence in the architecture of the houses, catholic churches and clearly visible, in the features of some of the people.
The last part of cycling towards Agonda was tough due to the heat and steep hills but in the end we made it and found a nice hotel called “Cupids Heaven Resort” just a few steps away from the beach.
